Scott Poynton

Founder and Executive Director

Although Scott founded TFT in 1999, the seed was sown in 1979, when 15-year-old Scott heard a radio interview with forester Richard St. Barbe Baker. Mesmerised by how Baker used poetry and science to tell stories, Scott dedicated his life to become a forester.

Scott gained a Master of Science in Forestry from Oxford University, where he was awarded the prestigious Oxford Forestry Institute’s Jubilee Prize. Scott’s first objective for TFT was to get unsustainable wood out of the furniture trade. TFT helped make that a reality, demonstrating that industry can be transformed for the better.

Over the years Scott has helped some of the world’s leading companies work to transform their practices for the better.
