JYSK has stores in 32 countries and today consists of approximately 1.600 stores, primarily located in Europe. We are a staff of almost 15,000. In Germany and Austria, the stores are known as Dänisches Bettenlager - an independent company in the JYSK Group. The group has an annual turnover of EUR 2 bn and growth is steady. JYSK purchases large quantities from suppliers all over the world and wants to be a socially responsible and sustainable retailer in a global economy dealing with for example environmental issues and working conditions, and we expect the same attitude from our suppliers. That is why we are one of the founders of TFT - The Forest Trust. Today approximately 75 per cent of all our wooden garden furniture carries the FSC mark. It is a natural part of our commitment to sustainable solutions to support the Climate Tree initiative.

Skanska's Environmental Policy commits the company to:
"Champion the efficient use of energy and reduce emissions of gasses associated with Climate Change. Where reduction is not possible, as a last resort we will offset our own direct emissions using reputable means. Where practicable we will favour renewable energy sources"
To take action, we've decided the best use of our support is directly investing in projects that avoid deforestation, which involve those living in the natural forests, therefore having a bigger and more positive impact than carbon offsetting alone.
The Skanska Group are now making voluntary contributions calculated against our air travel to TFT's Natural Forest programme in Brazil. This contribution directly supports Sustainable Forest Management programmes which reduce deforestation and reduce the output of Green House Gases.

Africa Wood for Life Bois & Vies
Africa Wood for Life, founded in June 2007, is a club of 23 responsible timber companies which want to meet highest standards of sustainable development in the Congo Basin and West Africa. Its objective is to reach 10 million hectares of certified forests by 2012.
Africa Wood for Life has joined the TFT program because there is no time to lose. We can still avoid a major catastrophe if energies join together. Climate tree has proved to be a very competent partner. We expect their teams on the field to give a significant concrete contribution to our members on the way to certification.
Just Forests are delighted to partner with The Climate Tree and TFT for the Tonewood Conservation Project. Our vision and mission are mutually supportive particularly as we approach 2011-The International Year of Forests as many of the ‘tonewoods' used in the making of our beautiful musical instruments are under severe threat from over-exploitation. For the past twenty one years, Just Forests has worked to create awareness of the importance of forests and wood to society and the overall programme of Just Forests has been conceived and designed to highlight the established -but still not yet fully recognized and understood- role and significance of timber/forests in the overall debate on sustainable human development.

The Climate Tree would like to thank Jordan Tanner SA. for donating funds to support the Luang Prabang community forestry project in Laos that would traditionally have been used for client Christmas gifts. The Luang Prabang project was selected as it promotes sustainable forest management for teak, a species frequently used in veneer and flooring and the gift will be used to support community training and development work, helping to protect the environment while at the same time improving local livelihoods.
