The CSE visits Cameroon Sugar Company

The new intake of students at the Centre for Social Excellence recently (21st March) conducted their first field trip by visiting the Cameroon Sugar company, SOSUCAM.

The visit was overseen by SOSUCAM Deputy Managing Director, Guillaume Ranson and the HR manager, Thierry Owona. It covered two sites, Mbandjock and Nkoteng. CSE students were shown how SOSUCAM functions and what the major operational challenges are across its factories and plantations.

The visit also covered the work of the SOSUCAM foundation and the telemedicine health centre. It helped students to gain a better understanding of the sustainable management of resources across the sugar industry, and the social protection provided by the company for their workers, workers’ families, and the local population. http://fondations-somdiaa.com

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the students to link theory with practice and witness a good example of how a sugar company can accelerate its industrial production while also addressing issues associated with social welfare and environmental conservation.

La SOSUCAM ouvre ses portes aux étudiants du CES

Le nouvel envol  des étudiants au Centre de l'Excellence Sociale a conduit récemment (le 21 mars 2012) à leur première sortie éducative à  la société sucrière du Cameroun (SOSUCAM). La visite a été supervisée par le DGA de SOSUCAM, Guillaume Ranson et le DRH, Thierry Owona. Elle a couvert deux sites, Mbandjock et Nkoteng. Au cours de cette visite, le CES a été informé sur le fonctionnement général de la SOSUCAM ainsi que les réalisations et les défis majeurs rencontrés dans les usines et plantations.

La visite s’est étendue sur le travail de la fondation SOSUCAM et son centre médico-social de télémédecine. Elle a permis aux étudiants de mieux appréhender la gestion durable des ressources à travers l'industrie de sucre et la protection sociale fournie par la société à ses travailleurs, leurs familles et aux populations locales. . http://fondations-somdiaa.com

Cette visite a été pour les étudiants une occasion d’associer la théorie à la pratique  et de voir comment une agro-industrie peut accélérer sa production tout en traitant des questions liées à la protection sociale et à la conservation environnementale.
