"Having promoted FSC certification to Adeo Group buyers (Leroy Merlin,...) I quickly found myself facing the following dilemma: should we stop [selling] tropical timber if there is not enough FSC timber on offer? Can we continue to buy and sell products made of tropical timber with no guarantee of their legality and even less assurance of good forest management being used at the source?

TFT helped us here. On the one hand, 100% of our tropical timber flow is truly "scanned" from a legality point of view and secondly, both we and our suppliers enter into a relationship with TFT to managing forest resources towards the achievement of sustainable forest management and FSC certification".

"Working with TFT is a key component to our timber policy - it enables us to stay positively engaged with tropical areas whilst ensuring that those suppliers are moving in a verifiable manner towards sustainable forest management". -

‘Macintosh Retail Group is aware of its responsibility towards our society and planet and therefore wishes not just to comply with applicable laws and regulations, but also take account of values that are generally accepted within society. We are highly committed to buy Responsible Products: Products that ‘Improve People's Lives and Respect the Environment throughout their Lifecycle'. Tackling environmental and social issues at the extraction and production stage can be particularly complex and is often distant from a company's core business and markets.

TFT supports us on the ground, giving objective insight into the realities of the supply chain and the practical support we need to deliver ‘Responsible Product'. TFT has helped us for many years in a very productive and successful way to bring transparency to our supply chains and integrity to our products.'

"At Maisons du Monde we took it to heart to initiate a project concerning forest resources in India. This field project aims at uniting other retailers to grow the support for suppliers of this incredible resource to act responsibly, instead of retailers being a passive spectator in the disappearance of beautiful species like Sheesham. With the TFT we found the ideal partner to initiate this action.

We participated in a unique and incredible moment when TFT teams came to meet our suppliers and to reassure them and tell them: we are here for you, so that tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and into the long term you can continue to produce furniture with your Indian resources. But you can do so in a better, more socially and more environmentally responsible way.

Such enthusiasm is something rare and magical. We are proud to be at the start of a strong, ambitious and dynamic partnership with a partner that we trust and who challenge us in return, so that the project takes the scale we want to give it".

"M&S has been working closely with TFT for six years, over this time TFT have provided practical and advisory support to our Plan A commitment, whereby all of our wood will come from responsibly managed sources. TFT enable us to apply our responsibly sourcing principles further down our supply chain, and provide the vital support needed on the ground and in M&S factory operations.

TFT's Wood Control System is thoroughly robust and transparent and gives M&S the assurances that we need, that we are sourcing from responsibly managed forests working towards credible and independent certification".

"Since becoming a buying member in 2005 Walkham Teak Ltd has found The Forest Trust to be very helpful in all aspects of our teak timber sourcing and production auditing in the factory.

Our membership has been of considerable benefit to us with customers and organisations who are particularly conscious of sustainability of wood sources".
