Congolaise Industrielle des Bois (CIB) has close to 1.4 million hectares in the Republic of Congo and now all of its forest management units are FSC certified.
In November 2007, CIB became a member of TFT. Nonetheless, TFT's collaboration with CIB dates back to January 2004 when TFT carried out an FSC Gap Assessment of CIB's forestry operations.
Since then, TFT and CIB have worked together, along with CIB's other partners, to help it achieve FSC certification of its Kabo and Pokola forest Management Units (FMUs); and in February 2011 Loundoungou and Toukoulaka also achieved FSC certification.
CIB is TFT's first African member and is the largest forest industry company operating in the Republic of Congo and one of the largest in the Central African region.
Updates
Four FMUs are now FSC certified: Kabo (May 2006), Pokola (May 2008), Loundoungou (February 2011) and Toukoulaka (February 2011).
